Kim Hendry’s very first venture dates back to 1981 when she started Kim's Cards Inc, a custom greeting card company created to fill the needs of the kids on her block. After selling the greeting card business to a kid in her Math Class, she turned to the world of sports starting the Fairview Tetherball League. Local kids squared off in tourneys held in her parent's backyard. It wasn’t long before she realized the need for a place for kids to keep their tetherball winnings. That’s when First Bank of Fairview came to fruition. Kim operated the bank out of her Mother's keyed roll top desk (FDIC insured & it really was the 1st bank in Fairview). Her final venture before leaving Fairview was one inspired by Jane Fonda and Denise Austin. Kim’s Kalisthenics offered exercise classes taught in the family's game room. As one friend said recently, “Why did we pay her to do all that stuff?"
Though Kim was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, it took her years to come back to that in her adult life. She spent 10 years in media before finding her passion, helping couples keep what she calls the surprise of a lifetime. Her business is Peekaboo Design Group, a baby planning and nursery design firm. It was one of the first companies of its’ kind in the U.S. Kim started the company in 2004 with the goal of assisting expecting couples in order to alleviate stress and promote a happy, healthy pregnancy and baby. In addition, she has been able to perfect a simple 3-step process to help parents keep the surprise of a boy or girl and still get the nursery of their dreams.
