Hello,
I'm Kim, the owner of Peekaboo Design Group and I want to thank you for visiting my blog.
For those who don't know, the roots of my business were established in 2004 when my husband and I were remodeling our new home. The process of remodeling along with thinking about kids in the future, left me brainstorming ideas for achieving the 'pink' or 'blue' nursery while also getting to keep the surprise. After quite a bit of research, I found there was no existing solution.
At the time, I was working in my ninth year in television advertising. I love that business and especially the people but, I was ready for a change. So, while anticipating the future and having a desire to help parents acheive their dream nursery, I began to sketch out the business. A door opened when my brother and sister-n-law found out they were pregnant with their third child. That was their first surprise. Their second would be up to me to keep...baby boy or baby girl. They were kind enough to let me try out my idea on them.
With family and close friends gathered around they unlocked the door and opened it to reveal Cody's nursery and what would be the start of my future. It was a hit. And, thanks to my husband's support and encouragement, I went back and wrote out a firm business plan and a date that I would leave my friends at NBC/Telemundo. In early August, we went to Mexico. Two weeks later, I turned in my resignation. Walking out that door was one of the hardest things I had ever done.
Almost two years later, I could not have dreamed up a better business. I absolutely love what I do and it's all because of my clients and the people I work with.
And now, I have a blog. Well, I've had this blog. It's just a very new thing to me. I'm still a paper and pen kind of girl...ya know? Actually, I would be a quill feather and ink kind of girl if it were readily available. Anyhow, several of my friends have blogs. And, I always love reading the blogs of my local vendors. So, I'm giving it a shot.
My goal is to add a new entry once a week highlighting the latest trends, parenting info and other baby/toddler news worthy items. In addition, I will include updates on Peekaboo as we grow. Please feel free to leave your feedback or pose a question that you would like answered. I would love for this to someday serve as a valuable resource to expecting couples.
