POST PUBLISHED NOTE: It's quite apparent that I am not a star gazer because I didn't even know that the couple was having a boy and girl...I thought they were having two girls! Just pretend that they had two girls as you read this post! Maybe next time they will.
I'm not much of a voyeur of the stars, but I recently heard that Brad and Angelina spent $140,000 on the nursery of their soon-to-arrive twins. I can only imagine what this nursery will consist of so, in the meantime, I decided to create my own little 'sky's the limit' nursery (see above).
The design is based on the fairy tale written by French author Charles Perrault, La Belle au bois dormant (Sleeping Beauty) or, in the case of twins, Sleeping Beauties. Perrault is credited with laying the foundation of the literary genre known as the fairy tale, writing such stories as Le Petit Chaperon rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) and Cendrillon ou la petite pantoufle de verre (Cinderella) and many, many more.
With a French influence as my foundation, I looked to places I know most in L.A. shop for baby. To continue with my fairy tale (and fairy tale nursery) I built the space to suit a large family of children providing plenty of seating, comfy fabrics and pillows and even a parents retreat attached for those late nights and sometimes long days.
Here are a few things included in the sketches above:
-
Hand carved and painted cribs and changing stations
-
Custom Crib Bedding and drapes using gold embellished fabrics
-
Custom Gold Silk poufs over each crib
-
Hand Painted Armoire
-
Mini Refrigerator and bottle warming station in the armoire.
-
Built in Cameras to monitor babies
-
His/Her Custom Upholstered Gliders
-
Gold ceiling tiles covering entire ceiling in nursery
-
Hand painted mural, monogramming and La Belle au bois dormant above crib (the mural vignette over changing table is outlined with an ornate gold frame).
-
Hand carved/painted, French inspired children's table and chairs for family time.
-
Hand carved/painted step stools at end of each crib for siblings to help care for babies.
-
Plush fabrics and pillows in parents retreat.
-
Comfy seating in parents retreat for reading and relaxing.
-
Flat screen in parents retreat.
-
4 crystal chandeliers between each room.
-
An abundance of crystal and feathered lamps providing dimmer light
All of this, including labor, estimated at around $96,250. Anyone interested? We can make it happen!
Stay tuned, next I think I will try to create a nursery for as little $$ as I possibly can!
